I received the Fretless Finger Guides for my students. It is the best idea I have seen. Now my students can spend more time getting the bow where need be. Most students say they can not remember where to place the fingers in the beginning, but thanks to you Nick, the note problems are solved. I feel that the student,old or young, has a better chance to learn faster. Everyone likes to play a song, and now learning a song helps them practice so they can start on a new one. After the students play their violin with the fretless guide, I have them try on another fiddle without. Remarkably they have developed their mind where their fingers go by habit and repetition. If the student knows what the right note sounds like they learn to hear when it is out of tune.

With a few books & dvds I have actually made progress (slow) in a month. The finger guide has been the single most helpful tool. Great product. I am happy to finally tackle a years-long dream. I purchased my Fretless Finger Guide for my full size violin about a month ago (Feb, 2010) and I absolutely love it. It has helped me associate the notes to letters and it has helped me learn how to read music with much more ease had I not purchased one. Great product! I bought one of these, because I am not proficient at all with reading music, and I wanted to get a kick start on the violin. Man, does this thing work. I edited every score with the appropriate colors to learn faster. I had tried the old tape trick. Guess what? I couldn't even play and I was thinking too hard on where the notes were, rather than my technique. Tape sucks-Fretlessfingerguides should be a part of every violinist/fiddler's kit. I received my Fretless Finger Guide today. First of all I was very surprised that it had arrived so quickly. Thank you for the speedy response to my order. This “Fretless Finger Guide” is everything your website claimed it would be. Even though I can already read music, it helps tremendously with finger placement, since this is my first attempt at playing the violin. I intend to use this Guide for as long as is necessary. I was so "buffaloed" by my fretless violin that I thought it was going to be a complete disaster until I purchased your product! Upon my first order received I was able to tune and play my violin quickly. I mean every word of it as I can play some tunes now. (Just got to let those fingers dance around faster on the strings!) I have been an advocate of your fretless guide to many new students, to  retailers in our area (Sam Ash, Woodys Music and the Violin Shop of Charlotte).  My instructor was skeptical, and bought a similar guide with just the tape lines on it.  She's already painfully aware of her mistake and will be hooking new students up with your guide.

The finger guides are awesome.  They have helped the students in many ways.  There is a huge difference between the students who wanted to use them and the ones that did not.  I think I will continue to use these finger guides, and possibly make them mandatory for the violin.

I am an orchestra teacher in Montreal. I have used the Suzuki method for many years. After seeing your product on one of my student’s violins I decided to try them for a few of my students that were not progressing as quickly as the others.
